2026 Family Road Trip begins tonight!
Hello friends!
The annual Rescue Family Road Trip is starting now, as the children and adults from Rescue are about to land at the Vancouver International Airport!
Once again, I, Adam Sylvester, will be part of the trip, documenting the journey through this blog.
My mother, Shelly Sylvester, and I are currently waiting at the airport for the team to arrive. Once they do, we will drive out to Maple Ridge to spend the night. Two days later, our first performance will be there.
The team is an impressive one, as aside from the twelve children who will be performing the dances, we have six Rescue alumni joining us along with the dance instructor and a Canadian staff member. When you add my mother and I, that means there are twenty two people on this tour, with a near 1:1 ratio of kids to adults. This should make it easier to keep the blog updated, as the workload will be more evenly spread. It also means that there will be more photos from the team, as we have already established a group chat share our photos. Already this has bore fruit, as the team has sent photos and videos of their trek from the Techo International Airport in Cambodia to the Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan. By the time the team arrives in Vancouver from Taiwan, they will have spent the last 19 hours travelling!

The theme of this tour is Hidden Gems. The Cambodian province of Pailin, of which Rescue III is located, is known for containing hidden rubies and sapphires in its remote areas. Rather than focus on the treasures found in the earth, we are shining a light on the faces of children and grannies whose lives are being restored, redeemed and rewritten. I hope you come to see us.
Introductions to the team will happen in the next blog entry, which will serve as the first actual day of the tour. I look forward to telling all of you about our journey.
